Landscaping Retaining Wall Installation Guide
STEP 1: ESTIMATE THE NUMBER OF UNITS
A) Figure square footage of retaining wall (length of wall x height of wall = total sq. ft.)
B) Divide Total sq. ft. of wall by sq. ft. face area of unit = Total units needed
Example: Wall needed is 15′ long x 4″ high: 15 x 4 = 60 sq. ft. Using 7″ LondonStone; face area – .78 sq. ft. 60 / .78 sq. ft. = 77 units
STEP 2: PREPARE THE BASE:
Place a leveling pad using 1/2″ – 3/4″ crushed stone, recycled concrete or gravel, approx. 6″ thick depending on the height of the wall.
STEP 3: INSTALL THE BASE COURSE:
Start at the lowest elevation. Place and level each of the first course units side to side, front to back and with the adjacent unit.
STEP 4: BACKFILL:
Install 12″ of drainage fill (3/4″ rock) behind each course. Compact these materials with a hand tamper or vibrating plate compactor.
STEP 5: INSTALL ADDITIONAL COURSES:
Position the second course of LondonStone upon the preceding layer straddling the two lower units and staggering the vertical joints.

Landscaping Paver Installation Guide
Excavate unsuitable, unstable or unconsolidated subgrade material and compact the area which has been cleared. Backfill and level with class 5 gravel or recycled concrete suitable for base material of compacted base for light vehicular and pedestrian traffic, increasing to 12 in. for heavy vehicular and industrial use.
Place bedding course of washed concrete and sand conforming to the grading requirements to an approx. depth of 1 to 1-1/2″.
Where required, cut pavers with a concrete saw to fit accurately, neatly and without damaged edges.
Tamp pavers with a plate compactor uniformly level, true to grade and free of movement.
Fill joints with sand.
Dig a trench 4″ wide and 1″-4″ deep depending upon how far you would like the edger to stick out of the ground.
Prepare trench by applying one inch of aggregate (sand, class 5 or recycle concrete) and compacting to a uniform level.
Position Bullet Edgers end to end in the trench. Using a mallet, tamp units firmly into place. Level each unit side to side, end to end and with adjoining units.
